Professional Senegalese Twist Braiding in Spring, TX: The Ultimate Protective Style
What are Senegalese Twists?
Senegalese Twists, often referred to as “rope twists,” are a classic and versatile African braiding style. Unlike traditional three-strand braids, Senegalese twists are created by wrapping two strands of hair around each other to create a smooth, rope-like effect.
At F & A African Hair Braiding, we use premium synthetic hair—specifically Kanekalon or Toyokalon—to ensure a sleek, shiny finish that doesn’t frizz. This style is not just a fashion statement; it is a time-tested technique designed to protect your natural 3C-4C texture from the harsh Texas heat and daily manipulation.
Why Choose Senegalese Twists for Your Next Style?
If you live a busy lifestyle as a working professional, a student at UH, or a dedicated mother in the Spring area, you know how valuable time is. Senegalese twists are the answer to the “morning rush.”
Low Maintenance: Wake up and go. No more detangling or heat styling every morning.
Ultimate Protection: By tucking your natural ends away, you reduce breakage and promote length retention.
Versatility: From high buns and ponytails to elegant side-swept looks, twists can be styled for the boardroom or a night out in Downtown Houston.
Longevity: When installed by the experts at F & A, your Senegalese twists can last anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks with proper care.
The F & A Difference: Pain-Free, Tension-Free Artistry
We hear it all the time from our clients: “I’ve had bad experiences with braiders who pull too tight.” At F & A African Hair Braiding, we have mastered the balance between neatness and health.
Our master braiders understand the anatomy of your scalp. We utilize a “tension-free” starting technique that ensures your twists stay secure without causing tension alopecia or scalp irritation. We believe that your “edges” are sacred, and we treat them with the utmost care. This commitment to hair health is why women from all over the 77379 zip code and beyond trust us with their crowns.

Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ) About Senegalese Twists
How long does it take to install Senegalese Twists?
Depending on the size and length you choose, installation usually takes between 4 to 8 hours. Because we value your busy schedule, we work efficiently to ensure you aren’t sitting in a chair longer than necessary.
How do I prepare my hair for the appointment?
For the best results at our Spring, TX salon, we recommend arriving with your hair freshly washed, deep-conditioned, and thoroughly detangled/blown out. This ensures the twists lay flat and stay secure.
Are Senegalese Twists better than Box Braids?
Twists tend to be slightly faster to install and remove than braids. They also offer a different aesthetic—braids have a more “structured” look, while twists provide a “softer, rope-like” texture. Both are excellent protective styles for 4C hair.
How do I wash my twists?
We recommend focusing on your scalp. Use a diluted sulfate-free shampoo and a spray bottle to reach your scalp without saturating the entire twist, which can make them heavy and slow to dry.
Do you offer Kids’ Senegalese Twists?
Yes! We are known in the Spring and Klein community for being gentle with children. We offer modified versions of this style for teens and younger children.

Fantastic!Posted on Ashaanti HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went to get my hair done on June 19th. I told them that i wanted boho knotless braids when i arrived they noticed that i had recently cut my hair and they said that they would have to use a technique to prevent my braids from falling out. they started my braids in the front and another lady joined in. i began to notice that the lady in the front was doing medium sized braids while the other did small braids i told them that i didn’t like the size and they told me they would go back and cut them out and redo the middle of my head to make it match the front but “the back didn’t matter” they cut out 6 braids and redid them when i finished i respectfully told them i wasn’t comfortable paying the full amount for braids that weren’t to my liking. they argued me down and were very rude and hostile. they took pictures of me and refused to accept $200 of the $260 that was owed. they threatened to call the police and i agreed that they should they eventually accepted the $200. when i got home the boho hair had already began falling out of my hair every time i touched the braids. on june 22 my braids began to slip out. i had my braids done for about two weeks and the whole back of my head is just about out, all of my braids have slipped out, i have no boho hair left in my braids and i just went back to them to show them what happened and they were rude, aggressive and very hostile. please do not go to this shop they are beyond rude, aggressive ,and money hungry. they continued to complain that i didn’t pay the full amount but this is why.Posted on Angela TengemTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Perfect and neet braidsPosted on Ann MooreTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My daughter got her hair done here twice. The first time it was kind of a mess up. Ms. Irene did the front of her which came out really nice. The lady who did the back looked like my daughter just let somebody play in her head. My daughter really likes Mrs. Irene so we gave them another try and she did a wonderful job by herself. It came out really nice. Thanks Mrs. Irene.Posted on Chasity WilliamsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Yea… NO! I’ve had countless of different braiding styles and knotless has been one of them! I was supposed to have gotten medium knotless braids, but ended up with kiddy plaits! Once the lady got to the top of my head, she puts 4 big boxes and tried to do 4 big braids! Made her take them down and add more braids! It’s still not how medium knotless braids are, and it’s definitely not worth the $140 I paid! It looks that I only have about 60 braids IF that…. all uneven! So bad my 7 year old daughter was calling me, “big braid”! I went here on New Years from out of town and I should’ve just waited. I was told it would take 2 hours, I was close to being here 5 hours!!! The pregnant lady who did my hair, had her daughter there, A BABY, whom kept distracting her as well! The boxes used to formed the braid are so huge and ugly, definitely don’t know how to part, and to top it off, I have so many bumps on the nape of my head, it’s embarrassing! I did not leave happy, take your money elsewhere! If I could leave ZERO stars, I definitely would’ve!Posted on Tachu FranklinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
